Why this is the answer
A thorough analysis — and often a preliminary strand test — is essential before a perm or relaxer because these strong chemical services can damage or break hair that is weak, over-porous, previously over-processed, or in poor condition. The analysis checks porosity, elasticity, and condition and identifies any scalp issues or prior chemical treatments that could react badly. The strand test predicts how the hair will respond. These precautions protect the client from damage and a poor result. The exam stresses analysis and testing before chemical services.
