About the Michigan Notary exam
The Michigan Notary exam is administered by the Michigan Secretary of State. Like every state, Michigan adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Commission fee: approximately $10 application.
- Commission term: 6 years.
- Michigan notaries are commissioned by the Governor for 6-year terms; must be a Michigan resident and 18 or older.
