About the Minnesota Notary exam
The Minnesota Notary exam is administered by the Minnesota Department of Public Safety. Like every state, Minnesota adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Commission fee: approximately $20 application.
- Commission term: 5 years.
- Minnesota notaries are commissioned by the Governor for 5-year terms; must be a Minnesota resident or work in the state.
