Ohio Secretary of State. Like every state, Ohio adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.

- Commission term: 5 years.
- Ohio notaries are commissioned by the Secretary of State; must be an Ohio resident or attorney; $5,000 bond required in some counties.
