About the Hawaii CDL exam
The Hawaii CDL exam is administered by the Hawaii Department of Transportation. Like every state, Hawaii adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $40.
- Skills testing: Hawaii County licensing offices (varies by island).
- Hawaii CDL holders operating inter-island by ferry are subject to additional marine operations requirements on top of standard CDL endorsements.
To get started, read the official Hawaii handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the Hawaii Department of Transportation.
What's in the Hawaii exam: Practice tests for the Commercial Driver's License written exam. Questions reflect the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License Manual that all states adopt as the basis for their CDL exams.
