About the Idaho CDL exam
The Idaho CDL exam is administered by the Idaho Transportation Department. Like every state, Idaho adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $30.
- Skills testing: Idaho DMV regional offices.
- Idaho has one of the lower CDL fee structures in the nation and offers a 4-year license validity period for CDL holders.
To get started, read the official Idaho handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the Idaho Transportation Department.
What's in the Idaho exam: Practice tests for the Commercial Driver's License written exam. Questions reflect the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License Manual that all states adopt as the basis for their CDL exams.
