About the Maine CDL exam
The Maine CDL exam is administered by the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Like every state, Maine adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $26.
- Skills testing: Maine BMV locations in Augusta, Bangor, and Portland.
- Maine offers CDL skills testing only at three state locations, so candidates in rural areas should plan for longer travel to testing sites.
To get started, read the official Maine handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles.
What's in the Maine exam: Practice tests for the Commercial Driver's License written exam. Questions reflect the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License Manual that all states adopt as the basis for their CDL exams.
