About the Maryland CDL exam
The Maryland CDL exam is administered by the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. Like every state, Maryland adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $50.
- Skills testing: Maryland MVA CDL facilities.
- Maryland requires a Medical Examiner's Certificate (MEC) to be electronically transmitted to the FMCSA before the CDL can be issued or renewed.
To get started, read the official Maryland handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration.
What's in the Maryland exam: Practice tests for the Commercial Driver's License written exam. Questions reflect the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License Manual that all states adopt as the basis for their CDL exams.
