About the New Mexico CDL exam
The New Mexico CDL exam is administered by the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division. Like every state, New Mexico adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $18.
- Skills testing: New Mexico MVD licensing offices.
- New Mexico has a unique bi-national commercial transport consideration — many CDL holders operate routes into or out of Mexico and should also review FMCSA cross-border regulations.
To get started, read the official New Mexico handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the New Mexico Motor Vehicle Division.
What's in the New Mexico exam: Practice tests for the Commercial Driver's License written exam. Questions reflect the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) Commercial Driver's License Manual that all states adopt as the basis for their CDL exams.
