When carrying cargo on a motorcycle, you should:

Cargo loading principles: keep loads low (saddlebags, tank bags, low-mounted top boxes) to maintain a low center of gravity; center loads front-to-back to maintain balance; distribute loads evenly left-to-right (asymmetric loads cause the bike to lean and handle poorly); secure everything firmly with quality straps so nothing shifts or falls; do not exceed the motorcycle's weight capacity (see owner's manual for total carrying capacity including rider, passenger, and cargo). Items hung from the handlebars or fork legs can interfere with steering. Items that swing or shift during riding can suddenly change the bike's balance. Soft saddlebags, tank bags, and properly mounted hard cases are all good cargo solutions.
