RUNNING WIDE IN A CURVE: This is a common and dangerous situation — the rider is not achieving a tight enough turn radius and may leave the lane. CORRECT RESPONSE: Counter-steer more — push LEFT handlebar forward to increase lean angle to the right (for a right-hand curve); simultaneously LOOK through the curve to where you want to go; LOOK WHERE YOU WANT TO GO: Motorcycles go where you look — looking at the edge of the road (target fixation) causes the bike to drift toward the edge; deliberately look to the exit of the curve; ADDITIONAL TECHNIQUE: Briefly ease throttle (but don't brake abruptly in a lean) to scrub some speed; apply smooth additional brake if needed — front brake application while leaned requires great care (can cause front wheel slide); PREVENTION: Enter curves slowly enough that you have margin for error; better to enter slow and accelerate out than to enter fast and run wide.
