How does alcohol affect a motorcyclist's ability to ride safely?

Alcohol impairs exactly the abilities riding demands most: judgment, balance, coordination, vision, and reaction time. Because operating a motorcycle requires constant balance and quick, precise control inputs, even a small amount of alcohol degrades a rider's safety margin more than it would a car driver's. Alcohol is a major factor in a large share of fatal motorcycle crashes. The only safe choice is to never ride after drinking.
