About the District of Columbia NCLEX exam

The District of Columbia NCLEX exam is administered by the District of Columbia Board of Nursing. Like every state, District of Columbia adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.

  • NCLEX + state licensing fee: approximately $200 NCLEX fee + $133 DC fee.
  • State nursing board: DC Board of Nursing.
  • Washington DC is NOT an NLC member; DC nurses must hold a DC licence to practise; DC's major research hospitals and federal healthcare agencies create strong demand for registered nurses.

To get started, read the official District of Columbia handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 70%, and then schedule your exam with the District of Columbia Board of Nursing.

What's in the District of Columbia exam: Practice questions modeled on the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and Practical Nurses (NCLEX-PN), organized by client need category as defined by the NCSBN test plan.
