About the Tennessee Notary exam
The Tennessee Notary exam is administered by the Tennessee Department of Safety. Like every state, Tennessee adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Commission fee: approximately $12 application.
- Commission term: 4 years.
- Tennessee notaries are commissioned by the Secretary of State; must be a Tennessee resident and at least 18.
