About the Texas Real Estate exam
The Texas Real Estate exam is administered by the Texas Department of Public Safety. Like every state, Texas adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $54 exam fee; $205 license fee.
- Texas requires 180 hours of pre-licensing education — one of the highest nationally; the TREC administers licensing.
To get started, read the official Texas handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 75%, and then schedule your exam with the Texas Department of Public Safety.
