About the Iowa Motorcycle exam
The Iowa Motorcycle exam is administered by the Iowa Department of Transportation. Like every state, Iowa adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $8 endorsement.
- Iowa's Motorcycle Rider Education Program (MREP) uses MSF curriculum; completion waives the road skills test at the DOT.
To get started, read the official Iowa handbook (linked above), practice with the tests on this page until you consistently score above 80%, and then schedule your exam with the Iowa Department of Transportation.
What's in the Iowa exam: Practice tests for the motorcycle endorsement written exam. Questions reflect the Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) curriculum and state-specific motorcycle operator manuals.
