Why this is the answer
MOTORCYCLE HYDROPLANING: Occurs when water pressure exceeds the tire's ability to evacuate water from the contact patch — the tire rides on a film of water with minimal contact. MOTORCYCLE ADVANTAGE: The round profile of motorcycle tires actually resists hydroplaning better than car tires at moderate depths — the groove directs water to the sides more efficiently; RISK FACTORS: Standing water > 1/8 inch; speeds above 35-40 mph; worn tire tread (less water evacuation); underinflated tires (larger contact patch); FIRST RAIN: Most dangerous — oil float to surface, mixed with water creates oil slick; traction can be WORSE than in heavy rain (heavy rain washes the oil away); WARNING SIGNS OF HYDROPLANING: Steering suddenly feels light; bike seems to float; slight loss of direction control; RESPONSE: Ease off throttle smoothly; avoid abrupt steering or braking; allow speed to reduce naturally; maintain straight line if possible.
