About the Alaska DMV Permit exam
The Alaska DMV Permit exam is administered by the Alaska Division of Motor Vehicles. Like every state, Alaska adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $20.
- Alaska requires 40 hours of supervised driving including 10 at night; the permit period is 6 months minimum.
