About the Idaho DMV Permit exam
The Idaho DMV Permit exam is administered by the Idaho Transportation Department. Like every state, Idaho adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.

- Idaho requires 50 hours of supervised driving (10 at night) for applicants under 17; the permit period is 6 months.
