About the Michigan DMV Permit exam
The Michigan DMV Permit exam is administered by the Michigan Secretary of State. Like every state, Michigan adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.
- Exam / licence fee: approximately $25.
- Michigan requires 50 hours of supervised driving (10 at night) for applicants under 17; the permit period is at least 6 months.
