About the Montana DMV Permit exam
The Montana DMV Permit exam is administered by the Montana Motor Vehicle Division. Like every state, Montana adopts the federal standards as a baseline and adds state-specific requirements, fees, and procedures.

- Montana requires 50 hours of supervised driving (10 at night) for applicants under 16; the permit period is minimum 6 months.
